| A Grand Order Yule greeting |
The Grand Order of the Lost Mathom is an active hobbit-only roleplaying (RP) kinship based on the Meriadoc (EU-RP) server of The Lord of the Rings Online. We aim to combine role-play with a variety of gameplay activities together.
Friendly & Approachable
We are an established small- to middle-sized kinship, with an emphasis on friendship and community more than large numbers. We deliberately keep our numbers manageable, to ensure that we get to know everyone properly.
Roleplaying hobbits
We are very active in promoting Shire-based hobbit roleplaying among our members. This is an important part of being in our kinship and helps us create additional depth and immersion for our characters. Don’t worry if you are new to roleplaying, though, we welcome beginners as well as more experienced roleplayers.
English language, EU times
Our core player base has traditionally been from the United Kingdom and Northern Europe, though we have players from other parts of the world too. English remains our common language for all forms of communication. Our traditional prime time for activity is in the EU evenings.
Regular events & activities
We encourage regular hobbit-oriented events, such as Green Dragon Friday (every week in Bywater), the Michel Delving Market (biweekly Mondays and Tuesdays) and The Brandy Badgers public rehearsals (biweekly every Monday). Our musical collective, The Brandy Badgers, is open for all members in the Order.
In addition, we run a number of annual events through the year: Wassailing, large musical projects, anniversary parties, picnics, Bards Day and lots of yule events. Other one-off events include burrow warmings, Mathom tale nights, historical field trips, riddle adventures/treasure searches, etc.
Kinship meetings & social interactions
We have kinship teas and meetings to catch up on news and gossip, as well as hear tales and stories and welcome new members. Discussions and plans are made on our own website, a separate Discord channel and in-game using our kinship chat channel.
Questing
We enjoy a great variety of questing as well as both group and solo adventuring. Joint adventures are often more about spending time with each other than looking for the grandest loot.
