Join our spooky historical field trip!

In October, many hobbits switch into a spooky mood – they wander into old mouldy cellars, get lost in scary hay mazes and dress up in a way that makes others shiver. Some years ago, hobbits also did wander outside the bounds for a spooky stroll where they also learned some scary historical facts. Now when people have probably recovered from that experience, we could do it again and visit some scary areas that lie just beyond the Shire borders.

Time: 7:00PM UK (2PM servertime) - note the early start!
Location: The Old Forest Gate in Buckland

On this wightseeing tour, we will first take a stroll through the Old Forest and learn more about its long past. We will exit the forest through the Barrow-downs, hopefully without ending up in one of the barrows themselves. It is good to arm yourself with bagpipes and other instruments that scare all living and undead creatures away. From the Barrow-downs, we head to an abandoned graveyard near the Breeland festival grounds, where people can play some scary tunes and cite some spooky poetry, if they wish. Should some of us still feel alive after all this, we can visit the local ruins shortly for a scary game of tag there.

For the trip, we encourage you to dress up in a scary outfit and bring lots of good food and drink to brighten our moods. People with small waistbandsizes should not feel too afraid – others will make sure to drive any unfriendly creatures away from you. Just hide behind their back, and you will be fine.
